Tiama launches its new version of the Tiama HOT move

In 2014, Tiama introduced the Tiama HOT move as a component of the Tiama HOT systems range during the Glasstec exhibition. The Tiama HOT move is the module dedicated to the monitoring and improvement of the ware positioning on the hot end conveyor.

Due to the limited space available on production lines at the hot end, Tiama has decided to launch a new version of its Tiama HOT move sensor with no footprint. This new version is now only a software that can be installed as an option on the Tiama HOT eye module. The old version of the Tiama HOT move was composed of a camera and several mechanical parts.

The new version of the Tiama HOT move retains the same features. The system rejects stuck and fallen articles to avoid jams in critical production areas located before entering the annealing lehr, such as the hot end surface treatment or the transfer wheel. The Tiama HOT move also gives the exact position of containers on the conveyor along two axes: the X axis for the spacing between containers and the Y axis for the offset between them. To prevent jams, the user can set thresholds to reject articles that are considered too close to each other or too misaligned. The Tiama HOT move also provides information on the angular corrections that should be applied to pushers to improve the conveying and to avoid transport issues.

The Tiama HOT move helps improving process control by reducing production losses due to jams and allows operators to free up time to concentrate on higher added-value tasks. Beyond process control, the Tiama HOT move increases the safety of operators working on the production lines. Operators need to clean the piled-up glass in the lines, which exposes them to a higher risk of burns and other injuries.

The new Tiama HOT move version is an affordable and easy-to-deploy solution to transport issues in glass plants. It is also part of the Smart Glass Solutions provided by Tiama’s YOUniverse concept to support the customers towards Smart Factory.

TIAMA ECO-system maximizes glass production and efficiency

Tiama ECO-system is one of our solutions in our range of expertise called Intelligence. Victor Bidegain presents this solution in this article.

For hot- and cold-end machines, TIAMA’s ECO-system revolutionizes glass manufacturing with real-time monitoring and data synchronization. It enhances communication, efficiency and quality – all while bringing the company’s YOUniverse concept abreast of the smart factory and in full alignment with Industry 4.0.

Tiama ECO-system offers many features about production monitoring, quality, maintenance, reporting and support in order to improve the global productivity and usage of Tiama machines. One of the key features of Tiama solution is its ability to provide realtime production monitoring. It gives access to all Tiama machines by remote control and offers important information about the productivity of each machine. All data is available on a single webpage accessible on the plant network. The system provides productivity and predictive maintenance KPIs for monitoring Tiama machines, optimizing their global maintenance, and ultimately improving their efficiency.

Tiama HOT mass 2: the NEW generation of sensor for gob monitoring

The Tiama HOT mass 2 is the new generation of TIAMA hot end sensor dedicated to gob monitoring. Today, gob monitoring systems have become a “must have” for glass plants and monitoring the gob is a key step in improving process control as glassmakers usually say that 80% of the defects created come from the gob.

Thanks to its unique configuration, the Tiama HOT mass 2 provides real 3D views of gobs and accurate measurements for gob shape such as length and diameters. The control of the gob shape is essential to limit the creation of defects. The system also provides temperatures, falling angles and speeds measurements in real time.

The Tiama HOT mass 2 keeps the gob weight stable through two closed loops: the system regulates automatically the tube height and the needles positions. Performance achieved by the system is very promising. As an example, for a production with a weight setpoint at 955g, the Tiama HOT mass 2 regulates the gob weight within +/- 1g. Thus, weight limits can be set to a minimum and the weight setpoint reduced. A reduction of only 1g means significant savings for a glass factory. This automatic gob weight control frees up time for operators who can concentrate on more added-value tasks around the IS machine.

The limitation of carbon impact becoming a priority for factories, a better weight stabilization also helps to support plants in the production of increasingly lighter containers.

The Tiama HOT mass 2 is universal and can be connected to any kind of IS machine and process. The technology used by the system makes it possible to have a compact solution that can be easily installed and requires only very little maintenance.

TIAMA was the first supplier to offer gob monitoring sensors with the GIA and then the Tiama HOT mass. Many years of experience and installations around the world have made Tiama HOT mass 2 an efficient and ergonomic system that meets the customers’ needs.

Fully integrated in the YOUniverse concept, Tiama HOT mass 2 is compatible with the different information systems used by glass plants.

Thanks to the worldwide presence of its after-sales engineers, Tiama is ready to support you with the installation and getting started with the Tiama HOT mass 2.
